site.btaInterior Minister Announces Large-Scale Nationwide Police Operation in Several Areas

A large-scale specialized police operation began across the country at 6 am on Wednesday, Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev announced at a briefing at the Council of Ministers following the Government 's weekly meeting here. Several areas will be targeted during the operation, including economic crimes, road safety and illegal drugs, he said. 

According to the Minister, one of the activities is being carried out by the Economic Police, involving "a fairly broad spectrum of crimes that will be investigated".

Another focus is the work of the Criminal Police, with an emphasis on combating drug distribution.

He added that road safety measures are also part of the operation.
