site.btaLecheva Receives Authorization from Kostadinova Pending Court Registration of New Bulgarian Olympic Committee Leadership

Vesela Lecheva, who was elected President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC), on Tuesday received authorization from former president Stefka Kostadinova allowing her to manage the organization until the formal court procedures for registering the new leadership in the Commercial Register are completed.

The two held a brief working meeting earlier in the day. Lecheva said work would begin "at full speed" in the name of institutional stability and Bulgarian Olympism.

She added that she remains in constant contact with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), and that the latest developments regarding the Bulgarian case would also be presented to the IOC Executive Board, which is meeting in Lausanne on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A few days ago, it became known that all legal claims against the March 19, 2025 General Assembly of the BOC, at which Lecheva was elected, had been withdrawn. Court rulings are expected within the legally established deadline, after which Lecheva and the members of the Executive Bureau are to be officially registered as the representatives of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee.

Kostadinova is currently registered in the Commercial Register as BOC President. During the BOC Elective General Assembly on March 19, 2025, a new leadership, headed by Vesela Lecheva, was elected but has not yet been registered in the Commercial Register due to ongoing court appeals. On May 17, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced that it had provisionally recognized the results of the Elective General Assembly, confirming that Lecheva and her team are the only individuals authorized to represent the BOC to the IOC, within the Olympic Movement, and at all IOC-recognized events and Games.
