site.btaPresident to Start Cabinet Formation Consultations with Parliamentary Groups on May 5
President Iliana Iotova Friday said she will begin cabinet-forming consultations with the parliamentary groups on May 5. "These will be held with each group separately, as we have always done, to give everyone the opportunity to express their views on how they will work in the National Assembly going forward, how they plan to proceed with the 2026 state budget bill, whether we will have a new budget, what their legislative agenda will be, their priorities, and the projects under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan," Iotova told reporters in Panagyurishte.
"I very much hope there will be common ground among the different views, because we have no time to waste," the President added.
Iotova was in Panagyurishte to mark the 150th anniversary of the outbreak of the April Uprising.
The consultations between the President and the parliamentary groups are part of the process of forming a regular government. Under the Constitution, the head of State consults the groups before handing a cabinet-forming mandate to the prime minister-designate of the largest group. In the 52nd National Assembly, that is Progressive Bulgaria led by former president Rumen Radev.
