site.btaFresh Snow Increases Snow Cover on Rozhen Peak, Pamporovo
A fresh 20 cm of snow fell on Rozhen Peak, bringing the total snow cover there to 59 cm, meteorologists at the station told BTA on Friday.
Snow fell in the higher parts of the Rhodope Mountains over the past 24 hours, while rain fell elsewhere.
The Mountain Rescue Service in Pamporovo told BTA that the resort received around 10 cm of fresh snow, taking the total snow cover to 70 cm. The weather was sunny with a light wind, the ski runs were groomed, the lifts were operating, and ski conditions were excellent.
The heaviest precipitation was recorded in Zlatograd, at 50 litres per square metre, followed by Smolyan with 24 litres per square metre and Chepelare with 17 litres per square metre.
Traffic through Prevala Pass remained restricted for lorries with trailers and semi-trailers, the officer on duty at the Smolyan Regional Road Administration told BTA. There was no precipitation in the region, road surfaces were cleared, and no incident reports were received.
