site.btaBulgaria’s Caretaker Government Plans Measures to Tackle Rising Prices, PM Gurov Says

Bulgaria’s caretaker government is working on a comprehensive package of measures to curb rising prices, which are a direct result of the conflict in the Middle East, caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov said in a video on Facebook. Gurov highlighted that in times of crisis, people expect not just words but clear direction and practical action.

“Ministers of Finance, Energy, Economy, and Social Policy are already developing concrete strategies,” Gurov said. He added that he had begun a series of meetings since Friday, the first of which was with employer organizations. “I believe good solutions are born through dialogue,” he said.

Gurov said that later in March the government expects feedback from trade unions, retail chains, the telecommunications sector, and banks. “Our goal is clear – measures must be well-targeted, reaching the people and sectors that truly need support. We aim to use resources wisely and fairly, not to waste them,” the Prime Minister said.

He added that the state is operating under a budget extension law, which limits options but does not justify inaction. “This is a responsibility to act intelligently, precisely, and with a sense of responsibility not only for the days of the caretaker government but for the country after the elections. In times of external crisis, we must act with statesmanship. We can succeed best when we recognize that we are all in the same boat, and the burden is lightest when shared fairly,” Gurov said.
