Community cultural centres, libraries and museums could become spaces for adult education and informal learning through culture and the arts, said the Education Ministry on its website on Wednesday. The involvement of cultural institutions in these activities is envisaged in the new Agenda 4 Skills - 2 project, which the Ministry of Education and Science will begin implementing in 2026 together with the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy.
It was presented at a meeting of national coordinators for adult learning from the European Union (EU) Member States in Brussels. The meeting was attended by representatives of the European Commission and experts from the Member States, who exchanged experience and discussed upcoming initiatives and cooperation in the field of adult education.
Agenda 4 Skills - 2 is being implemented under the Erasmus+ programme and builds on the now completed Agenda 4 Skills project, through which a network of national, regional and local partners supporting lifelong learning policies was established. The aim is to encourage adult participation in learning, promote European policies and instruments in the field of skills, and boost cooperation among institutions, organizations and stakeholders. The new phase will expand cooperation and more actively involve cultural institutions as environments for learning and skills development throughout life.
Within the project, national and regional events, peer learning, focus groups, study visits and exchanges of good practices among institutions and organizations involved in adult education will be organized. It is also planned to hold two editions of the traditional National Lifelong Learning Days – in 2026 and 2027. Each of them will bring together around 100 participants – representatives of institutions, businesses and experts working in the field of education and adult learning, the Education Ministry explained.
