MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski said he will refer what he described as false allegations contained in a "fabricated alert" by European prosecutor Teodora Georgieva to the ad hoc prosecutor and the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, and will send a copy to the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, the MRF reported on Friday.
According to Peevski, he submitted a tip-off on the matter for the first time in 2025 but did not receive a response from the Bulgarian prosecution service.
"Nevertheless, every attempt at false accusation, slander and defamation used by this compromised figure, who has discredited Bulgaria in Europe, must be countered with the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth," Peevski said.
"The truth about her links to the Soros network and the Prokopiev clique. The truth about her affair with Petyo "the Euro" [Petrov]. The truth about her ties with caretaker Justice Minister Yankulov and caretaker Interior Minister Dechev, who are fabricating yet another active measure aimed at providing media and information cover for those involved in the grim Petrohan case - CC-DB - and preparing them a default victory in the most unfair elections they are planning with 'our Interior Ministry', election fraud and deception of the entire Bulgarian society," the statement added.
Georgieva’s alert concerns "pressure, threats and damage to the authority of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office by senior representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Bulgaria and a political leader sanctioned for corruption by the United States and the United Kingdom" - the last words being a clear reference to Peevski.
Justice Minister Andrey Yankulov said he will request a meeting with the European Commissioner for Justice and the leadership of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the allegations against him.
On February 26, the EPPO said in a press release that Georgieva was found guilty of serious misconduct and that she had been suspended from office and replaced by an interim prosecutor pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings.
