The chair of the parliamentary defence committee, Hristo Gadjev (GERB-UDF) had a harsh reaction to a suggestion by Democrats of Strong Bulgaria of the Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition that Bulgaria should join France's initiative for an extended nuclear umbrella to include more EU countries in it. In a Facebook post, Gadjev blamed CC-DB of seeking a distraction from "the outrageousness of the Gurov cabinet" and finding one in the extended nuclear umbrella.

Gadjev argues that it would be "unacceptable for Bulgaria" to join the project.

As for the idea of Democrats for Strong Bulgaria to convene the Consultative Council for National Security to seed a national consensus for joining the initiative, the GERB-UDF MP said "the very idea of discussing the matter while an election campaign is underway, will have catastrophic consequences - surely for people's mental health".
