Bulgaria was the country with the lowest natural gas prices for non-household consumers in the European Union in the first half of 2025, according to Eurostat data. The price of natural gas for businesses, public organizations, and other non-residential consumers in Bulgaria averaged EUR 47 per megawatt hour, which is the lowest level among EU Member States.

In terms of electricity, non-household consumers in Bulgaria paid an average of EUR 127 per MWh at market prices. This figure does not include transmission and distribution costs, taxes, and other fees. Lower prices were reported only in Denmark, Sweden, and Finland.

The data also show that households in Bulgaria paid an average of EUR 130 per MWh of electricity in the first half of 2025, with this price including transmission and distribution costs, as well as value added tax. Lower prices for households were recorded only in Malta and Hungary.

In terms of natural gas for households, Bulgaria also ranks among the countries with the lowest prices in the EU. In the first half of 2025, the final price was EUR 77 per MWh, placing the country among the five Member States with the lowest prices in the EU.

According to the data, in 2024, 48% of the energy produced in the EU came from renewable sources. At the same time, 31% of the energy used in the Union was consumed by the transport sector.

The study also tracks electricity production, energy imports, electricity prices, and greenhouse gas emissions. The data show that in the first half of 2025, electricity prices for households in Member States varied significantly, ranging from around EUR 10 in Hungary to EUR 38 per kilowatt hour in Germany.
