The photo exhibition Bosilegrad Before and Now 1 and 2 will be part of the cultural events at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival, which will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17.

At the invitation of the folklore ensemble Lazarka, representatives of the Bosilegrad association GLAS will open the exhibition on May 15 at 2 p.m.

"For us it will be a pleasure and an honour to welcome your combined exhibition Bosilegrad Before and Now 1 and 2 at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival in Munich, which is also the only event abroad for now where you can meet in one place with representatives of over 100 Bulgarian folklore formations from Europe, Africa and North America and their dancers, singers and musicians, and introduce them to your work", said Lazarka's artistic director and chief organiser of the festival Plamen Petkov.

"From May 15 to May 17, 2026, the concert programme will also take place, featuring thematic dance and vocal performances by all nearly 120 participating groups from 20 European countries, the USA, Canada and South Africa", he added.

The exhibition consists of 30 panels with motifs and landscapes from Bosilegrad and several beautiful Bosilegrad villages. Most of the panels also show the traditional Bosilegrad folk costume. The exhibition is the work of seven professional photographers - Liliya Yotova, Vili Todorova, Aleksandar Ivanov, Yordan Yordanov, Vladislav Chanev, Asen Velikov and Vihren Georgiev, who took part in the first and second editions of the photo plein air organised by the GLAS association - Bosilegrad in the summer of 2023 and 2024. So far, the photo exhibition has been presented to Bulgarians in Skopje, Sofia, Timisoara, Bucharest and Budapest.

The panels for the photo exhibition were produced thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria through the Programme for Support of the Organisations of Bulgarian Communities Abroad.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
