site.btaFolk Dance from Dobrudzha Region to Send Message of Love during Bulgarian Festival in Munich

The BalkanDance Bulgarian Folklore Club in Stuttgart, Germany, will present a dance from the Dobrudzha region at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling folklore festival, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.

"Our choice is not accidental, as Dobrudzha folklore brings a special softness, inner strength and dignity. In its breadth and earthly stability, love is not ostentatious, but deeply experienced," Boriana Hristozova, choreographer of the folklore club, said in an interview for BTA. She pointed out that it is through this style that the club wants to tell a story about love, and emphasized that Bulgarians carry their country in their hearts, wherever they are in the world.

"With our performance, we want to send a message about love as a driving force in our lives. Love for the person next to us, for family, for traditions and for Bulgaria. We believe that love is the force that brings us together, regardless of distances and borders", Hristozova stressed. She added that it is a well-known fact that the Dobrudzha folklore dance style is among the most difficult to recreate and it is a great challenge for them to present it at a high level in Munich.

The BalkanDance Bulgarian Folklore Club has 80 members, some of whom were born in Bulgaria, others are Bulgarians who grew up abroad. "Germans also dance in our group. They study Bulgarian folklore with respect and sincere interest and actively contribute to its popularization," Hristozova noted.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
