2019 European Heritage Days to Take Place in September Throughout the Country

September 3 (BTA) - The 2019 European Heritage Days
initiative began on Tuesday and will continue during all of
September throughout the country, said the Ministry of Culture.

The European Heritage Days (EHD) are held in almost all European
countries as a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and
the European Commission. Over the years, the EHD initiative has
established itself as the largest pan-European event, involving
over 20 million European citizens each year, the Culture
Ministry noted.

Over 360 events will be organized and conducted by the municipal
administrations in all Bulgarian regions within the framework
of the EHD initiative.

This year the theme of the EHD will be "Arts and Entertainment".
It involves conducting various events that interpret in their
own way the link between heritage and arts and entertainment.
From street performances to concert halls, from traditional
theater and museum to modern cinema and digital art, the
European heritage will be displayed on local, national and
international stages for visitors and guests of all ages, the
Ministry of Culture said.

Dozens of museums, cultural and natural sites will have free
entry for their visitors on certain days of the month. The
various events organized by the municipalities will include
festivals, city holidays, public discussions, roundtables,
concerts, exhibitions, poetry competitions, outdoor theater
productions, educational games for children, etc. RY/DT
