Sofia, January 11 (BTA) - To mark the 111st anniversary of the establishment of the Military Intelligence Service, observed on January 12, and for outstanding performance, servicemen and civilian employees were awarded Friday by Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov, Defence Chief General Andrei Botsev, and head of the Service Brigadier General Plamen Angelov, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
Earlier on Friday, Karakachanov and Botsev laid wreaths at the monument of military intelligence officers who died in the line of duty.
In addresses at the ceremony Karakachanov, Botsev and Angelov noted the importance of the Military Intelligence Service for national security. Angelov said that the intensity of the service's work is directly proportional to the dynamics of the international relations and security environment.
Commandos from the 68th Special Forces Brigade received distinctions for high achievements during joint missions. LI/ZH
