Sofia, October 15 (BTA) - At the end of September, the registered unemployed persons in labour offices were 236,058, accounting for an unemployment rate of 7.2 per cent, shows data released by the Employment Agency here on Thursday. Compared to August, the number of unemployed have decreased by 9,716 people, but have increased by 63,277 people compared to September of 2019, the Agency explained.

The Employment Agency reported an unemployment decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month of August and an increase of 1.9 percentage points compared to a year earlier.

During September, 28,832 newly unemployed people registered to use the mediation and services of labour offices. Apart from them, another 1,049 people from the groups of students, pensioners and employed persons have also registered with the Employment Agency.

In September 2020, the number of unemployed persons who started work reached 24,112, and compared to the same month in the previous year there was a significant increase - by 62.3 per cent. Throughout the month of September, 889 people from the group of students, pensioners and employed persons have also found their new jobs through employment offices.

During the month, 3,310 unemployed people from at-risk groups started working subsidized jobs - 1,008 under employment programmes and measures and 2,302 - under schemes of the Human Resources Development Operational Programme. The Employment for You scheme (under the Human Resources Development OP), which started in July as an anti-crisis measure, has provided employment to 1,736 people, and in September employment contracts were concluded with 662 unemployed people.

The declared vacancies on the primary labour market in September were 21,086, which is 17.9 per cent more than those in September 2019. The largest share of vacancies was declared in the manufacturing industry (28.2 per cent), followed by education (16.3 per cent), general government (10.1 per cent), administrative and support service activities (9.4 per cent), trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (9.1 per cent) and hotels and restaurants (7.8 per cent).
