Parliament Chair Meets
with Iranian Minister
of Roads and Urban Development

April 19 (BTA) - National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva Friday met with Iran's Roads and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami, Parliament's press office said.

The Iranian official is in Bulgaria for the 19th session of the Bulgaria-Iran Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation.

Bulgaria attributes a great importance to developing its traditionally good relations with Iran, said Karayancheva. She expressed a hope that the concerted effort of the two countries'governments and parliaments would help to fully tap their potential for trade and economic cooperation.

Eslami expressed satisfaction with the work done by the experts of the Joint Commission. He stressed that the eight  documents signed are expected to help tap the existing opportunities for more successful development of bilateral relations in various fields.   

Karayancheva said Bulgaria prioritizes the deepening of bilateral contacts in transport, tourism, youth and sports, agriculture and energy. She expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation in culture, science and education, all of which help the two nations get to know each other better.

The members of the friendship groups in the two legislatures play a substantial role in the development of bilateral relations, Karayancheva stressed. She reiterated her invitation to Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to make an official visit to Bulgaria.

The meeting was attended by Halil Letifov, Chairman of the transport, IT and Communications Committee, and Krassimir Subev and Stanislav Stanilov, Chair and Deputy Chair of the Bulgaria-Iran Friendship Group. RY/DD
