PM Borissov Meets
CER President Rabbi

Sofia, November 6 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with the President of the Conference of European Rabbis (CER), Pinchas Goldschmidt, the Government Information Service said Tuesday.

Rabbi Goldschmidt expressed gratitude to the Bulgarian government for the support and security this country provides to the Jewish community. The President of CER also noted that, unlike Bulgaria, increasing anti-Semitic actions can be observed in Europe.

Borissov underscored that Bulgaria has always been an example of religious tolerance and that traditionally there are no anti-Semitic processes here. He added that there is also a special national coordinator for such matters whose functions are carried out by a deputy minister of foreign affairs.

Rabbi Goldschmidt said Bulgaria and the government are deeply respected amongst Jewish communities in Europe. Borissov, in turn, pointed out that the feat of Bulgarians in saving Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust should not be forgotten.

At the meeting, Borissov was invited by the Conference of European Rabbis to participate as an honorary guest in their working session at the Munich Security Conference in February 2019, the Government Information Service said./LI/BR
