Bulgarian European Commissioner Gabriel, Senior Interior Ministry Officials Discuss Counteracting Cybercrime
Sofia, November 14 (BTA) - European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel visited the headquarters of the Chief Directorate for Organized Crime Control and conferred with senior officials of the Cybercrime unit, the Interior Ministry said in a press release Tuesday.
Gabriel and Chief Commissioner Ivailo Spiridonov discussed the work of the directorate in counteracting cybercrime, and the European initiatives in the sector.
Gabriel was familiarized with the work of the Cybercrime unit and the web site against computer crimes maintained by it, www.cybercrime.bg.
The participants in the talks discussed the need for more flexible legal instruments for counteracting cyber crimes. The officials dwelled on the increasing role globally of the cryptocurrencies and their control.
Gabriel praised the efforts of the Cybercrime unit in fighting computer crimes.
